He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Our Building Consent team have a crucial role in ensuring safe, compliant, and well-constructed buildings by ensuring that construction adheres to codes, safety standards and regulations.
This role will help you understand compliance (or non-compliance) with the building code and the approved building consent specifications.
Your day-to-day tasks will involve assisting with:
Each rotation will provide a healthy mix of on-the-job learning, mentoring from experienced professionals and meaningful work.
At the end of the programme, you’ll also be supported in securing a permanent role within Auckland Council entities.
This role is deemed safety sensitive and in line with Auckland Council policy, you will be required to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

Our Healthy Waters department is responsible for the management, planning and development of stormwater systems and its effects on the environment.
We work with iwi and value te mauri o te wai, the life-supporting capacity of water, to deliver our objectives in an innovative, sustainable and collaborative way.
We aim to future-proof Auckland’s water by creating healthy environments, empowering our communities and building resilient stormwater systems which fulfil Auckland Council’s Te Taruke-a-Tawhiri: Auckland’s Climate Plan.
Your role will be split across our Healthy Waters and Regulatory teams. Your day-to-day tasks may involve:
