He angitūtanga: The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an HR or Business Management Graduate! Start your career in an established organisation like Auckland Council where you’ll learn HR in an environment with size, scale and pace.

As a member of our People & Culture team, you will have the chance to contribute to various projects, gain valuable hands-on experience, and develop key skills in transformation and delivery.

Your day-to-day tasks may include:

  • Contributing to the optimisation and implementation of practices, HR systems and Agile ways of working.
  • Assisting in organising training and development initiatives.
  • Participating in HR data analysis and reporting activities.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support organisational goals and strategy.

Each rotation will provide a healthy mix of on-the-job learning, mentoring from experienced professionals and meaningful work.

At the end of the programme, you’ll also be supported in securing a permanent role within Auckland Council entities.

We are looking for a proactive graduate, who is interested in the future of HR and wants to contribute in a meaningful way. You will bring innovation and critical thinking skills to help futureproof the work we do.

We welcome applications from graduates in the following disciplines:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Applied Management in HR
  • Business management

To be eligible to apply, you must have the following:

  • Be eligible to work in New Zealand, or be eligible to apply for a Post-Study Work Visa
  • A relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree obtained in January 2023 – January 2025
